Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@laughterandlife.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At Laughter and Life, we believe, when a young person is provided the proper foundation for their future, they are more likely to succeed. Studies have shown when young people are committed in programs requiring discipline, structure, and are engaging, those students tend to do better in social and academic settings. Moreover, students who participate in programs that are Arts centered, tend to excel in academics, public speaking, and their skills can be transferable in nearly any career path.

Short answer YES!

Private lessons benefit students by allowing them to zero in on specific skills that need to be enhanced with clear guided direction. At Laughter & Life, it is recommended students participate in at least six (6) scheduled required lessons.

*For more information see our section about Private Lessons

As we look at the industry standard, more and more professional artists are skilled in the areas of Ballet which is a foundation of all professional training. By offering this foundation, your student will have a broader knowledge of dance vocabulary, technique, and discipline as a performer.

Every student enrolled in our course sessions will learn how to properly audition. Through our rigorous curriculum, created by a state-certified educator and professional industry leader, students will increase in knowledge and understanding of what directors are looking for.  Students will also have more confidence in how to approach the audition process, including next steps.

A Repertoire or Rep-Book is a basic black 3-ring 1 1/2 inch binder that will store assigned sheet music, scenes, and monologues for students. Students will use their rep book during group sessions, private lessons, master classes, and any auditions.

*Students are required to provide their own Rep-Book

Of course, there will be various opportunities for every student to perform in class and audition for showcase performances.

Students will receive feedback to pinpoint areas where improvement is needed or how to expand on already strongly developed areas of performance presentation. Students will receive feedback through rubrics, video observation/evaluation, peer critiques, and real-time feedback.

Students are required to wear dance/athletic attire for the movement portions of their curriculum along with required dance shoes conveyed by the instructor; but if students are attending a private lesson, they may wear whatever they are comfortable in when they come to work with us.

*Ballet Techniques attire is specified in the Parent Package

Why NOT?

Laughter & Life is a place where all students will be seen and heard. Students will be immersed into a safe environment of diversity and community. The educational value your child will walk away with will surpass expectations with our hands on approach to learning. Students will create healthy long-lasting relationships.
